C„ SATURDAY, MAY 9, 1942 Important Information About Gasoline Rationing Date of Registration—May 12, 13 and 14th. JM^Place of Registration — Where registered for sugar. (Ex ception, Lynn school and Tryon colored school will register at Tryon high school). Hours of Registration—10 a. m., to 4 p. m. Bring With You—Your motor vehicle registration card. If your car is used for business purposes, come prepared to state the week ly mileage for such business pur poses. Operators of all commercial trucks anj other motor vehicles that are readily recognized as commercial vehicles will not need cards for gasoline purchases and will not need to register. All other operators, including commercial users whose vehicles are not clearly marked as com mercial, will need one of five types cards to be issued upon ap ^^fntion. The basic “A” card will be issued to any passenger automobile owner upon presentation of his car registration card. The owner of two or more automobiles may re ceive an “A” , card for each" ve hicle in his possession. The “A” card wifi contain seven squares each of which will permit the hold er to purchase one unit of gaso line any time between May 15th and July 1st. To those owners whose car is used for business purposes which require mileage greater than that provided by the basic allowance may apply for one of the “B” _Continued on Back Page.. Vanderhoef Appointed On Rationing Board The Polk County Rationing Board announces the appointment of H. B. Vanderhoef, of Tryon to the position of sugar advisor. Mr. Vanderhoef will be in the office of the Polk County Ration ing Board every Monday morning from 9 to 12 o’clock, and every Thursday afternoon from 2 to 5 o’clock to advise on all matters pertaining to sugar rationing and £o hear requests for adjustments, et cetera. Tires issued May 8th: Recapped passenger tires, Wil liam Pack, Landrum route 1, 2 tires and 2 new tubes: Fletcher Bobo, Tryon, 2 tires. New truck tires and tubes, Ezelle Foster, Tryon, 2 tires and 2 tubes; Lee Wagoner. Tryon route 1, 1 tire and 1 tube; Linasey Smith, Columbus, 2 tubes. Recapped truck tires, Herbert Butler, Tryon, 2 tires: Duke Power Co, Tryon, 2 tires* Tryon Fuel Supply, 2 tires. Combine tires, G. L. Collins, Tryon rpute 1, 1 tire; T. E. Swain, Campobello route 1, 2tires and 2 tubes. Miss Ann Bingham to Graduate from Smith College Northampton, Mass, May 9.— Miss Ann Deardon Bingham, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel A.
